How We Work
Our process from first call to completed job
A Straightforward Service Process
Every gate job in Eugene is handled the same way: we show up when we say we will, figure out what actually needs to be done, and complete the work properly. Below is a clear breakdown of what to expect when you work with Bethel Gate Services — whether you're dealing with a gate repair, a new installation, or routine maintenance.
Our approach is built around accurate diagnosis and transparent communication. We don't rush site assessments, and we don't recommend work that isn't warranted. The goal is a gate system that functions reliably — not a recurring service call.
Initial Contact & Intake
When you call or submit a service request, we gather basic information about the property, the gate type, and the nature of the problem. For repair jobs, understanding the symptoms helps us arrive prepared with the right parts. For installation inquiries, we discuss gate type, material preferences, and access control requirements before scheduling a site visit.
Site Assessment & Diagnosis
On-site, we inspect the gate system thoroughly — checking the operator, control board, wiring, mechanical hardware, track alignment, and safety sensors. For repair jobs, we identify the root cause rather than just treating symptoms. For new installations, we evaluate the site conditions: post placement options, power availability, surface grade, and access clearance requirements.
Estimate & Scope Review
After the assessment, we provide a clear, itemized estimate. We explain what needs to be done, why, and what the expected outcome is. If multiple repair options exist — for example, a targeted component fix versus a full operator replacement — we walk you through both so you can make an informed decision. No pressure, no inflated scope.
Installation or Repair
Work is performed to manufacturer specifications and industry standards. For installations, this means proper post setting depths, accurate hardware alignment, and correct wiring terminations. For repairs, we replace only what needs replacing and ensure that adjacent components haven't been affected. We use quality hardware and properly rated electrical components throughout.
Calibration & Testing
Before we call a job complete, the gate system is fully tested under operating conditions. For automated systems, this includes limit switch verification, force settings, safety reversal testing, and confirmation that all access credentials — remotes, keypads, loop detectors — function correctly. We don't leave until the system operates the way it should.
Handoff & Documentation
We walk you through the completed work, demonstrate proper system operation, and answer any questions about maintenance or usage. You receive documentation on what was installed or repaired. We also provide guidance on recommended maintenance intervals and signs to watch for that might indicate future service needs.
Quality Standards & Safety Compliance
Automated gate systems are regulated under UL 325, the safety standard for door, drapery, gate, louver, and window operators. Every automated gate installation and operator replacement we perform is completed in compliance with UL 325 requirements, which govern entrapment protection, safety sensor placement, and operator force limits.
This matters practically: a gate system without proper entrapment protection devices is both a liability and a hazard. We verify that all required safety devices — including edge sensors, photo eyes, and monitored safety loops — are present, correctly positioned, and functioning before completing any installation or major repair.
For commercial applications, we also confirm that operator duty-cycle ratings match the expected usage volume of the installation site. An operator rated for residential use won't hold up under commercial traffic patterns — that's a common mistake we see when property owners have prior work done by less experienced contractors.
